FULLY RESTORED EARLY 20THC KNOLE SOFA
£12,999
The Knole Sofa was first made in the 17th century. It is housed at Knole in Kent, a house owned by the Sackville-Wests since 1605 but now in the care of the National Trust. It was originally used not as comfortable sofa but as a formal throne on which the monarch would have sat to receive visitors – something we have addressed in our restoration by adding two deliciously plump filled duck feather and down cushions.
The Knole features adjustable side arms and considerable depth of seating. It originally flaunted its exposed wooden finials at the rear corner tops, but we’ve added further detail by upholstering them in a stunning midnight black hand dyed leather. The outfolding arms, more correctly sides, are of the same height as the back of the sofa. The side arms were originally tied to the sofa back by an elaborate tassel. Keeping the leather theme running, we’ve replaced them with hand stitched ribbons of Italian caramel leather.
We’ve reupholstered the early 20thC antique in stunning hand dyed grape purple British sourced leather.
A one-of-a-kind, truly stunning restoration.
